Sally Tuttle
I love the process of painting.
In the process of painting, I get to make something and if I am very lucky I get to spend time suspended in the moment.  As I work I look forward to the opportunity to step in and out of the moment to gently move the process along.
Working with abstract compositions allows me the adventure of discovery.
My recurring themes usually contain a casual reference to nature or man-structures. Sometimes my compositions show glimpses of movement behind or in front of static obstructions.  I use color, texture, line and value transitions, layering these elements to create a dimensional atmosphere
My work is about the work as seen by the viewer – I am the maker making, the viewer is the viewer viewing and that’s all there is.
I want nothing more than to offer the viewer a moment to be free to view the work on their own terms – nothing to figure out or understand.
